The accessory status indicator shows the battery status for wireless devices and the assigned quadrants of the connected controllers.

With this software and a compatible wireless receiver, you can use various Xbox accessories such as wired and wireless game controllers, wired and wireless headsets, and wireless wheels for gaming on your computer. If you followed the setup instructions on the installation CD, you should be ready to use your device.

Simple, easy and completely free, simply plug in your hardware, install the driver, and your controller will be. These days, you can use just about any gaming controller on your computer.

Learning how to connect an Xbox controller to a PC might sound intimidating, but the process is pretty simple. Whether you have a wireless or wired controller, functionality is identical. This section only applies to those with wireless controllers. The official Microsoft version will cost a bit more than that, but there are many third-party versions available that work perfectly well. After purchasing the wireless receiver, connect it to a compatible USB port on your computer see Figure A below.
