Im sure esxi has its ups but in my eyes if my data is only readable by a program that can fail HARD like that its not worth a second thought. Again, never had an issue. VMFS is pretty much required as it's a cluster aware file system.

I actually tried to keep using esxi and attempted to build another VM in that environment for server but despite me properly provisioning resources, disk space, and everything it would error out every time i tried to create a Virtual machine on the host. Login to the ESXi using root password or with domain account. Once logged in successful, Run command to show valid powershell datastore drives.
