We will help you land a professional in-person or virtual internship that gives you the work experience and real-world skills to gain a competitive edge in the job market after graduation.
We'll coach you on: resume and cover letter writing, mock interviews, networking, and more! You'll build and hone skills that include communication, professionalism, intercultural fluency, teamwork, and conflict resolution. From museums to cultural events and Washington Semester Program community building events, we give you the resources to become a DC local. Housing: TurnKey Housing Solutions provides state-of-the-art housing options for WSP students wishing to experience living in DC, either in the heart of the District or near campus — with rates comparable to AU double occupancy rates.
AU Housing may be available for Summer as well. AU Courses — Your internship course provide you with insights into professional life and your WSP academic seminars and AU electives bring you face-to-face with national and global experts. Whether you spend 1 or 2 semesters in the program, you can transfer American University credits to your home college degree.

Fall and spring semester students intern four full days per week for fourteen weeks. Through the internship, students strengthen their skills, deepen their understanding of the professional world, and gain unparalleled experience that will set them apart when seeking full-time employment after graduation.
Students also pursue two academic courses in a variety of subject areas to augment their professional endeavors. The coursework and the internship complement one another, enabling students to gain valuable insight and experience in their chosen field of study.
